About Oakland Task Force

Oakland

The Oakland Task Force (OTF) is a partnership of institutions, community organizations, businesses and public agencies working together, to improve the Oakland neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh, the third largest employment center in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania behind Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Oakland Task Force meets the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m.with the exception of the month of August in which no meeting is held. The meeting location is rotational among institutions and community organizations and is posted on the OTF website. The primary focus of this organization is the exchange of timely information for use where appropriate by the OTF membership. Officers are elected for a two year term by vote of the membership. OTF is a consensus organization that is unique in that we operate without a set of by-laws. Costs associated with any agreed-to projects are shared among the membership. Over the years, the OTF has engaged in a number of studies to determine how best and in what areas we should work to improve Oakland and what role should the Oakland Task Force play. The recommendations from those studies suggest that OTF needs to be a stronger advocate and policy forum for Oakland projects. The Oakland Task Force has as a result of its most recent study titled the "Future of Oakland", adopted a platform of initiatives, projects, programs and studies that are currently serving as the primary guide for Oakland development projects that serve to:
