Welcome!
Oakland...we’re turning over a green leaf!

The Oakland Task Force is proud to announce one of Pittsburgh’s best kept secrets: the Oakland community is a green community!  Each of our Oakland Task Force member organizations boasts a variety of both large and small scale green initiatives that contribute both to the public health and environmental health of the Oakland community.  Our members have initiated such projects as:

Comprehensive recycling programs
Green building initiatives
Toxic waste and hazardous material remediation
Street tree and community garden plantings

as well as a variety of events, including a walk challenge, a farmers market, furniture recycling program and vegetarian lunch fundraisers.  Combined with Oakland’s comprehensive public transit system and our extensive natural park, trail, sidewalk and river systems, we are definitely Pittsburgh’s best kept green secret.  Go Green Oakland!
